Who We Are

MICAH House, founded in 1986, is an emergency family homeless shelter that provides shelter and support services to hundreds of children and adults annually.

Through a network of services, MICAH House provides support and security to individuals who are uncertain about their future and are worried for the safety and well-being of their children. Families and single women who enter MICAH House are provided an array of services including nutritious meals, counseling resources, an on-site health clinic, and the Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center.

MICAH House follows similar policies set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and does not discriminate in its programs or activities based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

“Everyone needs a safe place to sleep at night. MICAH House provides that and so much more to families and women every day. We are proud to serve those in need with dignity and respect because we believe that housing is a human right.”

— Ashley Flater, Executive Director
